Statement from Willard Reaves Leader, Manitoba Liberal Party
I would like to wish Obby Khan and his family all the best following his decision to step
down as Leader of the Progressive Conservative Party of Manitoba.
Obby and I have shared an unusual journey. We both had the privilege of wearing the
Blue and Gold playing for the Wpg Blue Bombers, and years later we found ourselves
competing against each other at the ballot box in Fort Whyte. While we have not always
agreed politically, I have always respected anyone who is willing to put their name
forward and serve the people of Manitoba.
Public life demands a great deal from individuals and their families. I thank Obby for his
service as Leader of the Official Opposition and wish him the very best in whatever
comes next.
While there may be changes in leadership, our commitment to the people of Manitoba
remains unchanged. The work of building a stronger, more inclusive, and credible
Manitoba Liberal Party continues. Our focus remains on representing Manitobans,
championing their priorities, and offering a positive vision for the future of this province.
Leadership transitions are a natural part of any political movement, but they do not alter
our mission or our determination. We will continue moving forward, strengthening our
party, growing our support, and working every day to earn the trust of Manitobans.
The Manitoba Liberal Party is bigger than any one individual. Our commitment to
building a better Manitoba remains steadfast, and that work continues today, tomorrow,
and into the future.
Willard Reaves, Manitoba Liberal Party Leader
