2018 was an exceptional year for the Manitoba Liberal Party.
Winning a fourth seat in the St. Boniface by-election was a major breakthrough for our party.
For the first time in 23 years, the Manitoba Liberal Party has official party status, and a new leader in the legislature.
At first, there were predictions that it would be a three-way race. When all the votes were counted, there was little doubt that this was so: we won a convincing victory, with 44% of the vote.
The NDP were a distant second. The PC candidate finished fourth.
We showed that Manitoba Liberals have what it takes to win. From high-level strategy and communications to boots on the ground and pulling the vote, we made it happen.
This has taken us to the next level - and a new goal to aim for: forming government.
Is this ambitious? Absolutely. This is the single best opportunity for the Manitoba Liberals in a lifetime. As one supporter told us, “It’s easier to win 20 seats than it is to win one.”
Our job is to show Manitobans that we are a credible, positive progressive option to the PCs and the NDP. If we do our job properly, it will be clear we are the only option - and we can ensure that Brian Pallister is a one-term premier.
To make this a reality, we need you to help us build a strong foundation for 2020. The key to our ongoing success is a strong finish to this year, and a commitment to ongoing strong and stable support from donors like you.
We have shown that we are able to run lean and effective modern campaigns. We want to take what we have learned from our success in St. Boniface and reproduce it in seat after seat across Manitoba. The process has already started with active planning on fundraising, organization, communications and candidate recruitment.
We are asking you to consider three things:
Second: Please sign up as a monthly donor to the Liberal party. We are looking for people to commit to becoming members of the Manitoba Liberal Party Builder’s Club. Stable monthly funding will provide a solid base for us to grow from.
Third: Please spread the word and let your friends and family know that we are committed to changing politics and changing government in Manitoba for the better.
We believe that we have an historic opportunity. Please join us!
We want to hear from you - if you have questions or suggestions, please let us know.
Yours,
Dougald Lamont
Leader of the Manitoba Liberal Party
MLA St. Boniface
