MLP Policy Incubator 2023: Seniors' Housing

This policy incubator is intended to review the current state of Seniors' Housing in Manitoba and consider policy initiatives to address deficiencies. We will consider such examples of shortcomings as the sale of the downtown Winnipeg Lions' facility and how there have been failures to consider the needs of seniors in home interior design and community planning.
Speakers will include:
- Dougald Lamont, Leader of the MLP and MLA for St. Boniface
- Dr. Jon Gerrard, MLA for River Heights
- Pete Sanderson, former seniors' facility board member
- Dr. Norman Blackie, Executive Director of Health, Healthy Living and Seniors
- Dr. Nancy Hansen, Director of the Interdisciplinary Master's Program Disability Studies, University of Manitoba
- Trish Rawsthorne, President of the Manitoba Liberal Seniors' Association
- Damon Johnston, President of the Aboriginal Council of Winnipeg
- Larry Johansson, Mayor of City of Selkirk
Zoom break-out room participants will be invited to consider solutions and propose policy initiatives for consideration at the upcoming MLP Annual General Meeting.
