About the Event

In Canada, on average, whether you are looking at municipal, provincial, or federal levels of government, women only make up 25 percent of our elected officials despite being 50 percent of our population.

Women need to be asked 3 times more often than men before they will put their names forward for a nomination, so it’s important to ask – and to keep asking.

Our Call to Action – #AskHer

Ask her over email, direct message, over the phone, or better yet have coffee with her (when allowed) and #AskHer to run in the next election. Tell her why she is brilliant, why she is qualified, and tell her why she can win. And if she says she isn’t qualified, be ready to tell her why she is.

You also need to tell her. Tell her how you will support her. Maybe it’s making a donation, volunteering, knocking on some doors, recruiting others – make sure she knows you aren’t just willing to ask her, but to support her. Whether that’s with your time, your money or your talent. We need to not only ask more women to run, but support them when they choose to run.

The evening will begin with a facilitated wine/cheese/chocolate tasting led by a representative from DeLuca’s Fine Wines.

Your Covid safe package will include 2 bottles of wine (1 white/1red), a wheel of cheese, and a selection of chocolates, and will be delivered to your home prior to the event.

Following the tasting there will be moderated discussion/Q&A featuring a panel of women discussing how to better engage women in politics and the challenges they face when they do get involved.
