On June 13, we received notice from Judy Klassen, MLA for Kewatinook that she was stepping down as the Interim Leader of the Manitoba Liberal Party.
The MLP constitution does not outline procedures surrounding the appointment of an Interim Leader.
In consultation with Caucus, I asked our Board to consider our situation and to provide a recommendation.
The following motion was adopted by the Board on June 26, 2017:
"The position of Interim Leader of the Manitoba Liberal Party remain vacant until a new Leader is selected at the Leadership convention. The President will serve as spokesperson on Party matters. The Caucus will address legislative and constituency business.”
