Rotator Cuff (Shoulder) surgery in Manitoba has long wait times

Monday Sept 15 I raised in the Legislature the problem of long wait times for shoulder - rotator cuff - surgery in Manitoba. While the NDP have focused on wait times for hip and knee surgery in Manitoba, and not done nearly as good a job at shortening these as in Alberta, shoulder, elbow, ankles and wrist surgery have not received as much attention.
Robert Froese (above) came to me with the concern that he was being told he would probably have to wait 18 months for rotator cuff surgery which he badly needs. This is far too long.
I know there are others with shoulder surgery who are having long waits, and so I raised this in the Legislature. Although we are given the wait times after seeing a specialist for hip and knee surgery, we are not being given the wait times in Manitoba from the time a person sees a family physician until he or she sees a specialist. Manitobans who have to wait are upset that they are not being given the full picture. In the case of shoulder surgery, we are not given any of the wait times, because the information is not being collected.
It has been nine long years of NDP government he Manitoba. Manitobans deserve better than this.
