The Manitoba Liberal Party is Moving Forward!!!
The Manitoba Liberal Party is moving forward. We are holding our provincial Annual General Meeting on April 4-6 at the Marlborough Hotel in Winnipeg. If you are a Liberal or interested in joining the Manitoba Liberal Party, this is an excellent event to attend. Featured speakers include:
1) The Hon. Andy Scott: Currently a Member of Parliament, Andy Scott was the Executive Director of the New Brunswick Liberal Party in the years leading up to Frank McKenna's big victory. He will be talking about the changes the New Brunswick Liberals made which drew in many new members, and led to a resurgence of Liberalism in New Brunswick.
2) John Ryan: A retired geography professor, John has looked very carefully at the option of a high voltage power transmission line from northern Manitoba to southern Manitoba travelling under Lake Winnipeg. It is feasible, and John Ryan will explain why. Last fall, when I asked Bob Brennan in the Manitoba Legislature committee if such a line was feasible, Bob Brennan, the CEO of Manitoba Hydro ridiculed the idea as unfeasible and way too costly. The NDP selected Board members for Manitoba Hydro had also neglected to do their homework on this issue.
Now John Ryan has done it and he will talk about why it is the most cost effective and environmentally conscious- the best option for a new hydroelectric power line from northern Manitoba to southern Manitoba.
3) Nicholas Hirst: Former editor of the Winnipeg Free Press, Mr. Nicholas Hirst will give us his vision of how we need to move Manitoba forward and create opportunities for our province. Mr.Hirst will discuss his current work in film industry which focuses a spot light on Winnipeg and the entire province of Manitoba as being a great place to do business.
4) Bob Rae: Former Premier of Ontario, Mr. Bob Rae will speak Saturday evening at our banquet. He will talk about the need for a rise in Liberalism in Canada.
And we are not just inviting dignitaries to speak. Manitoba Liberals are a grassroots party. We are consulting people all over Manitoba in preparing our action plan leading up to the next provincial election, expected in 2011. Our consultation document is below. Please review it then send me your comments on what else we can do to raise the Liberal Party to prominence in Manitoba.
