The Seventh Annual Smart Awards


Thursday January 31, Manitoba's Seventh Annual Smart Awards banquet was held at the Convention Centre in Winnipeg. Organized by Smart Partners of Manitoba, these awards recognize leading edge achievements in our province.
The recipients included:
For Education - Standard Aero's Aboriginal Women's Gas Turbine Repair Overhaul Program - run at the Centre for Aboriginal Human Resource Development (CAHRD). Wayne Helgason, Chair of the Board of CAHRD (top photo) was present to receive the award.
For Connectivity - the Misipawistik Telecommunications Co-op Inc, for their efforts in achieving connectivity in the Grand Rapids area. Chief Ovide Mercredi was present to receive the award (bottom photo).
For Youth - Project Whitecard Inc.
For Innovation - Olatech Business Hosting Corporation
For Community Involvement - McNally Robinson Booksellers
For Entertainment - StrongFront A/V Productions Inc.
For Health and Wellness - Dr. Edward Buchel
For Culture - e-Library Manitoba
For Environment - Fort Whyte Alive
For Heritage - Red River College, Marti Ford and Mike Stuhldrier
