The Orverter, new technology for a more environmentally friendly disposal of organic waste

Not far from Elie Manitoba, Ken Smith and others with RES/OP Technologies have built a pilot plant to demonstrate that they can convert waste organics-to-energy. The technology is like an incinerator with one big difference - it does not use fossil fuels to burn organic matter. Thus it is significantly more environmentally friendly than a traditional incinerator, and operates for the most part in a carbon-neutral fashion (except when some plastic gets into the waste).
The technology has some significant advantages in dealing with disposal of waste material where there is a concern it may contain infected matter - such as for example material from a BSE infected or possible infected animal.
I visited with Ken Smith and Colin Vann last week to see the pilot plant in operation (photos).
