Pritam Brar is the Liberal candidate in The Maples

Pritam Brar, our Liberal candidate in the The Maples in the next provincial election, and his family are another wonderful example of the great Canadian success story - that of newer Canadians working their way up to success here in Manitoba.

Pritam came to Canada from the Punjab in 1972 and for 13 years worked hard as a taxi driver. He was an owner/operator with Unicity Taxi and eventually rose to become a member of Unicity's Board of Directors.

For five years, he also owned and operated a gas station in Winnipeg.

In recent years, Pritam has turned a lot of his attention to helping recent immigrants get settled in Manitoba as the newest members of the Canadian mosaic. He has worked closely with Liberal MLA Kevin Lamoureux and has extensive experience in helping others with immigration issues.

In 1993, Pritam Brar served as the President of the National Association of Canadians of Indian Origin (NACIO). He began the annual NACIO night with a successful dinner with 600 people in attendance.

Pritam is keen on sports and on physical exercise, and he has Advanced Training certification as a Physical Education Teacher from Poona in India. Following his love of sports, he began the Sports Tournament for the Sikh Society of Manitoba.

In the top photo, I am standing with Pritam near his family's home in The Maples. In the second photo, we are together at the Pearl of the Orient Philippine Pavilion at Folkorama. The third photo is of Pritam at the India Pavilion. The bottom photo is a portrait of Pritam with his wife and three children.
